Ancar, one of Brazil’s leading shopping center companies, has concluded negotiations to add Midway Mall, located in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, to its portfolio. Through a pool of investors, the company has acquired a minority stake in the asset and will also assume responsibility for its management, marking a new chapter in the history of one of the city’s premier shopping destinations.
The transaction represents another important milestone in Ancar’s long-term growth strategy, further strengthening its portfolio with assets that combine regional relevance, operational excellence, long-term value creation, and strategic complementarity.
Opened in 2005, Midway Mall features more than 300 stores across approximately 65,000 square meters (700,000 sq. ft.) of Gross Leasable Area (GLA), making it one of the leading retail destinations in the Natal region. The shopping center has established itself as a comprehensive destination for shopping, dining, and services, reinforcing its importance to the local community and the broader region.
This addition further expands Ancar’s national platform for shopping center management and investment, reinforcing the company’s strategy of growing through high-quality assets with strong positions in their respective markets. With the inclusion of Midway Mall, Ancar’s portfolio now comprises 23 shopping centers across all five regions of Brazil, further strengthening its position as one of the country’s leading shopping center operators.
According to Marcos Carvalho, Co-Chief Executive Officer of Ancar, becoming part of Midway Mall is a source of great pride.
"Over more than 50 years in the shopping center industry, we have developed the expertise to unlock the full potential of every asset while respecting its stage of development, regional relevance, and customer profile. Recognizing the unique characteristics of each shopping center has been fundamental to our success and continues to guide our consistent and sustainable growth."
