Ancar Supports Free Professional Training for Refugees and Migrants

Applications are now open for the third edition of Acelera TOTI: Empowering Talent, an initiative that promotes the social and economic inclusion of refugees and migrants through professional training. Applications are open until July 12. Supported by Ancar, one of Brazil’s leading shopping center companies, the program will offer 40 fully funded places in a professional development course focused on technology, employability, and the creative economy.

Developed by Toti Diversidade, an organization dedicated to the economic inclusion of refugees and migrants, the program aims to expand participants’ access to Brazil’s formal job market by providing technical training and developing skills that are highly valued by employers.

The program is designed for refugees and migrants living in situations of social vulnerability in Rio de Janeiro. The cohort will consist of 50% women and 50% men, reinforcing the initiative’s commitment to diversity and gender equity.

Throughout the program, participants will follow a learning journey that combines technical and professional development. Topics include Marketing Fundamentals, Personal Branding, Front-End Web Development, HTML, CSS, Introduction to JavaScript, résumé writing, interview preparation, strategic use of LinkedIn, and an overview of the rights and responsibilities of migrants in Brazil.

In addition to the training itself, Acelera TOTI provides individualized support to help participants overcome barriers that could affect their successful completion of the program. This includes initiatives such as laptop lending and other resources designed to ensure equitable access to learning opportunities.

The program runs for approximately two months and is expected to conclude in October. Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate and take part in a Talent Fair, where they will have the opportunity to network, showcase their skills, and connect with professionals from the creative industries and the broader job market, creating new pathways for career development.

The initiative is led by Toti Diversidade and is sponsored by the City of Rio de Janeiro, through the Municipal Department of Culture and the Municipal Cultural Incentive Law (ISS Law). The program is also supported by Ancar and the National Electric System Operator (ONS).

By supporting this initiative, Ancar reinforces its commitment to social inclusion and the creation of opportunities for vulnerable communities. The partnership helps expand access to professional education, promote financial independence, and support participants in building sustainable career paths and successful integration into the workforce.
